Evert Eugene Lattin, 87, of Gladbrook, IA, passed away Tuesday, January 30, 2018, at Southridge Specialty Care in Marshalltown, IA. Cremation rites were accorded and a memorial service will be held at a later date. At the family's request, memorial donations may be directed to the Gladbrook-Lincoln Ambulance Service, Gladbrook United Methodist Women, and Iowa River Hospice of Marshalltown. Evert was born on December 7, 1930, in Topeka, KS. He graduated from Argentine High School in Kansas City, KS, in 1948. Evert was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Norma Gish, on January 20, 1951, in Kansas City. They were blessed with a daughter. Evert worked for the Santa Fe Railroad for a few years before beginning a lifelong career with IBM, from which he retired in 1988. He was a member of the Gladbrook United Methodist Church and kept in touch with the IBM Retirees in Kansas City. Evert was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, and he enjoyed being with his family. He especially loved spending time with his grandsons, whom he adored.
Evert will be dearly missed by his wife, Norma, a daughter, Debra (Phil) Koester of Gladbrook, and two grandsons, Kevin Koester of Topeka, and Kyle Koester of Gladbrook. He is also survived by a brother and a sister. Evert was preceded in death by his parents, John and Emma Lattin.
Every and Norma have been life long friends to my folks and family. He was a wonderful, intelligent and kind man to be missed by all of us who knew him. Marchea an Wynne Jennings and Marilyn Ward and family
