Millie was united in marriage to Clifford Swanson on July 29, 1939, in Atlantic, IA. They had one son, Craig. Millie was a homemaker and she and Cliff owned Swanson Kitchens in Marshalltown. Millie is survived by grandchildren Thomas Kennedy of Bloomington, IN, Jessica (Adam) Edelstein of Milwaukee, WI, and David Doane of Los Angeles, CA; one great grandchild on the way; as well as her sister-in-law, Lenore Mikkelsen of Guthrie Center, IA; and her nieces and nephews and their children and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford; her son, Craig; her brothers, Alvin and Wilson; and her sister, Ramona.
Marshalltown is a much brighter place because of the care, the charm, the friendliness and light that Millie Swanson offered throughout her long life.
Cliff and Millie were backyard neighbors to my parents, Paul and Lorraine Eker, for many years. They had such good times together and were always teasing each other and always enjoying any kind of fun. When my mom moved to Rochester, MN to be closer to family, she kept in touch with Millie and often spoke of their friendship. Bless all of them as they look upon us. Please accept my condolences as your hearts heal from your loss.
Thoughts and prayers..Susan (Eker) Steinbach
Jessica, Thomas and David, I am so sorry for your loss. I have had the privilege of being one of many caregivers for Millie. She was one of my first clients 8 years ago. She talked about her grandchildren with so much pride. She enjoyed your visits so much, the look on her face when you came thru the door was priceless. Treasure your memories of this great women. I know I will also, Thank you for allowing me to a part of "Miss Milles" life. Your in my thoughts and prayers , Penny Braye
