Marilyn Ruth Bucholz was born to Harlan and Dorothy (Johnson) Bucholz on November 2, 1931 in Marshalltown, Iowa. She graduated from Green Mountain High School in 1949. Marilyn worked at Grant's Department Store for a while and then at the Marshall County Courthouse where she was a license clerk. On December 21, 1951 Marilyn married Donald Goedeke in the First Congregational Church in Green Mountain, Iowa. Their first home was in Mt. Clemens, Michigan where Donald was stationed in the Air Force. They moved to Irvington, New Jersey, Donald's home town. They lived there for several years where he was on the police force and she worked in Newark as an auditor for a bank that owned a number of branches in other surrounding cities. They purchased a business back in the Marshalltown/Green Mountain area in the early sixties. In 1977 they sold the tool business and purchased a resort on Cass Lake in Minnesota. In 1984 they sold that and bought a campground on Gull Lake near Tenstrike, MN. They retired to Ada, MN in 1997. Now there was more time for hobbies, Marilyn did some knitting, more baking, lots of reading and cross-word puzzles, most of the time with music in the background. She loved her family and enjoyed her time with them.
Marilyn is survived by two daughters, Donalyn (Shane) Teigland, Roseau, MN and Sandee (Tom) Drewry, Davenport, ND; four grandchildren, Ryan Irish, Brooklyn, WI, Teralyn (Troy) Stout, Superior, WI, Tyler (Kayla) Drewry, Fargo, ND, Ashley (Jordan) Riel, Colfax, ND; and three great grandsons, Zeke, Trent and Malakai, and one great granddaughter, Rosaleigh.
Marilyn was a true treasure, a rarity like no other and we are so grateful to have had her in our lives. Rest in peace with your Don!
